IEC 60335-2-6:2014 is an international standard issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It is a membership of IEC60335 series, published under the general title household and similar electrical appliances - safety. Part 2-6 is particular requirements for stationary cooking ranges, hobs, ovens and similar appliances.
Application range
Standard IEC60335-2-6: 2014 applies to stationary electric cooking ranges, hobs, ovens and similar appliances for household use, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250V for single - phase (single - phase appliances connected between phase and neutral) and not exceeding 480V for others. It also includes requirements for some marine ovens.
Main content
1). Electrical safety requirements: The electrical insulation performance of the appliance must be good and able to withstand the specified electrical strength tests, such as withstand voltage test and leakage current test, to ensure that there is no risk of electric shock due to insulation problems under normal use and possible fault conditions. At the same time, the grounding measures must be reliable to ensure that the current can be safely introduced into the ground when an electrical fault occurs.
2). Thermal performance requirements: There are clear regulations on the temperature control of different components such as ovens and stoves during normal operation. The temperature of the heating element of the stove when heating different liquids also has corresponding requirements to prevent overheating and fire or burns. In addition, the temperature rise of the external contactable surface of the appliance may also be limited to avoid burns when the user uses it.
3). Mechanical safety requirements: Mechanical strength tests are required. The mechanical parts of the equipment are required to have sufficient strength, maintain normal working functions during the test, and there are no dangerous changes in the external structure, such as no exposure of electrical parts and sharp edges.
4). Requirements for signs, labels and instructions: The standard stipulates that the equipment should have clear and accurate signs and labels, such as rated voltage, power, production date and other information. The instructions should explain in detail the use of the equipment, safety precautions, maintenance requirements, etc., so that users can use and maintain the product correctly and avoid safety accidents caused by improper operation.
